Technical FAQ

Straight answers to the questions buyers actually ask us — cost, profiles, steel grades, loads, packing and export. If your question is not here, ask an engineer.

Cost & Quotation

Cost and quotation

What drives the number, and what we need from you to put one together.

How much does a steel building cost per square metre?

A bare warehouse shell and a fully insulated, crane-served plant can differ by more than three times per square metre, so a single figure would mislead you. What we quote is the structure of the price: frame 30–40%, purlins 8–15%, envelope 15–25%, doors and windows 5–12%, with foundations, freight and finishing making up the rest. Send us the span, eave height and intended use, and we return an itemised package price within 24 hours.

What information do you need to quote a building?

Four things are enough for a first package quote: length × width × height, what the building will be used for, the project location — so we apply the right wind, snow and seismic loads — and any crane or mezzanine requirement. Drawings or a BOQ speed things up, but they are not required to start.

Can I start with a trial order?

Yes. Most first orders are a mixed trial — a small run of purlins and roofing sheets to check profile, coating and packing before committing to a full building. Tell us the items and we will work out the most economical container mix, so you are not paying freight on air.

Products & Specification

Products and specification

Picking the right profile, core and steel grade for your building.

C purlin or Z purlin — which should I specify?

Z purlins lap at the flanges, so they behave as a continuous beam and suit longer spans and long roof runs. C purlins are simpler, cheaper per tonne and the natural choice for short spans, wall girts and eave members. As a rule of thumb, roof spans above 6 m lean towards Z; wall girts and short spans lean towards C.

Which sandwich panel core should I choose?

EPS for budget walls where fire is not critical; rock wool where a fire rating is required (A2 core); glass wool for roofs and where acoustic performance matters; PU or PIR for cold rooms, where you get the best U-value per millimetre. Cold store panels go up to 200 mm.

What steel grades and coatings do you use?

Frames in Q235B or Q355B, shot-blasted to Sa2.5 and primed with epoxy zinc-rich paint. Purlins galvanized Z275–Z600, or black with primer. Roof and wall sheets from PPGI / PPGL coil, zinc coating 60–275 g/m², with PE, SMP or PVDF paint systems depending on the climate and the warranty you need.

What is the maximum clear span you can build?

Clear spans up to 40 m with tapered portal frames. Above about 30 m the frame weight climbs quickly, so we compare alternatives — a multi-span layout, an intermediate column, or a truss — and tell you which works out cheaper, rather than simply quoting the largest frame we can roll.

Can you match a specific RAL colour?

Yes. Roof and wall sheets are coated to order, so any RAL reference can be matched. Send the code — and if colour consistency across batches matters for your project, we will hold one coil batch for the whole order.

Loads, Quality & Export

Loads, quality and export

How the building is calculated, checked and packed for the sea.

How do you account for wind and snow loads?

Every frame is calculated against the loads at your site — basic wind speed, ground snow load and seismic category — not against a generic domestic default. Send the location and we will tell you which code we are designing to, and whether a local engineer needs to review and stamp the drawings.

What certifications do you hold?

ISO 9001 quality management, ISO 14001 environmental management and ISO 45001 occupational health and safety, across both plants. Mill certificates, coating thickness reports and inspection records go out with every shipment; third-party inspection by SGS, BV or TÜV can be arranged on request.

Which countries do you export to?

Eleven countries so far, across Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and Africa. We handle export documentation, container loading plans and shipping marks — and we are used to buyers who are importing a steel package for the first time.

How is a steel package packed for shipping?

Panels are nested on timber pallets and strapped; purlins are bundled by section and nested to save container space; hardware is boxed, itemised and labelled against the packing list; frames are marked per erection sequence. A loading plan showing the container mix is issued before packing starts.

Do you supply cold store buildings and panels?

Yes. PU and PIR panels up to 200 mm with cam-lock joints, continuous vapour sealing, insulated corner profiles and cold-store doors — supplied as one thermal envelope rather than panels plus separate fittings. We build for freezer duty down to −25 °C.

Still not sure which system you need?

Send us the building size, location and intended use. An engineer — not a sales template — replies within 24 hours.
